LEVEL 3 AWARD IN MOT TEST CENTRE MANAGEMENT
GB MOT Training offers the Skills and Education Group Level 3 Award in MOT Test Centre Management.
BACKGROUND
This course has been developed in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency DVSA and is designed to help the prospective AE and AEDM to fully understand their responsibilities and role within the MOT Service.
It provides students with the knowledge and skills required to manage and MOT Vehicle Test Centres.
It is a mandatory course for the MOT Station Authorised Examiner (AE) or AE Designated Manager (AEDM) or those who wish to become an AE or AEDM.
This course will be of interest to anyone wishing to set up an MOT testing Station, or who may already be MOT Tester and wish to advance their career further.

Course Outline
The duration of the Level 3 Award in MOT Test Centre Management course is two days
This DVSA-approved course covers:
- Testing responsibilities
- Administrative arrangements
- Quality systems
- Disciplinary and appeal processes
- How to manage the legislative and compliance requirements of a vehicle test centre
- How to deal with customer service problems within a vehicle test centre
- How to develop and supervise staff within a vehicle test centre
- Vehicle test centre quality systems and quality audits
The course includes a multiple-choice question test, which must be passed to qualify.
REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAINING
Each AE must have one AEP or more who has attained a Level 3 Award in MOT Test Centre Management.
It must be attended for each AE by:
- An AE Principal for the AE
- The AE Designated Manager for that AE
Authorisations granted before 1 April 1995, that have not been subject to change, do not require their AEDM to have attended the MOT Managers Course.
VALIDITY
The training does not have an expiry date and is a lifelong qualification.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. Candidates must be able to read and speak English.
Please note that an individual cannot become an MOT AE, AEDM or Site Manager if they have any unspent convictions for criminal offences. (Please contact us if you have any questions on this.)
Individuals will need to have a Basic DBS check before being assigned the AEDM role.
Applicants on this course must supply photographic identification on attendance at the course.
